How to Leave or Opt-Out of a Challenge

Overview

Depending on your groups challenge structure, you may or may not be able to exit a challenge.  Most wellness challenges are optional, meaning you are able to join or exit at any time. However, some programs may automatically enroll everyone in the challenge and do not provide a self-service exit link; only an administrator can remove you.

Instructions

TypeWhat to do
Mandatory Challenge If your group has set the challenge to auto-enroll “Everyone,” the exit link is hidden. Please contact your wellness administrator if you believe you should be exempt.

Individual Challenge To exit an individual challenge:
  • Navigate to the Challenges widget.
  • Click on the challenge you are currently enrolled in.
  •  In either the upper right-hand area of the pane or the footer, you will find a link: "I no longer want to participate in this challenge!"

Team ChallengeLeaving a team automatically removes you from the challenge.

To exit a Team challenge:
  • Navigate to the Challenges widget.
  • In the Teams list, your current team name appears in bold. Click it.
  • In the pop-up, choose Leave TeamConfirm.  The system recalculates team averages automatically.

Troubleshooting

QuestionAnswer
The exit link isn’t visible. Why?The challenge may be mandatory, the join-cut-off date has passed, or you’re viewing a custom template without a footer link. Contact support if unsure.
Will my past data stay in reports if I leave a challenge?Yes. Your personal tracker data remains in your account, but it no longer counts toward challenge leaderboards.
Can I re-join after leaving? If the join-cut-off date hasn’t expired and participant limits allow, click Join Challenge again on the tile.
Our team average dropped after someone left—expected?Yes. Averages are recalculated based on current members.
